Female dead following crash on Hwy. 401 in Scarborough

One person is dead following a two-vehicle crash on Highway 401 in Scarborough on Monday morning.
Emergency crews responded after getting reports a vehicle was in the ditch in the eastbound collector lanes of the highway between Markham and Neilson roads before 8 a.m.
The OPP say a white car rear ended another vehicle and then ended up crashing through a guardrail and falling down an embankment on the side of the highway.
A female in the white car was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say the driver in the vehicle that was rear ended suffered minor injuries.
Police say speed “may have been a factor” in the crash.
The collector lanes of the eastbound 401 from Kennedy Road to Neilson are closed the investigation. The eastbound express lanes remain open.
